MTAA offers a variety of in-person and virtual professional development opportunities regularly and by request, as well as customized trainings designed to suit your program.

    This free, virtual conference provides opportunities for OST professionals to network with peers from across the country, engage with speakers committed to supporting others in designing enriching STEM activities beyond the classroom and ignite excitement to help youth explore STEM and all the ways it can inspire and set their lives up for success. Sessions elevate resources available through the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative.

    Winter Wonders virtual steam series takes place each winter and highlights Montana-based programs to share STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) resources and ready-to-use activities.

    Every other year the Fall Roadshow travels throughout Montana, bringing high quality professional development to a town near you! The previous roadshow offered three sessions: Stop Behavior Before it Starts, STEAM Family Engagement, and HEARTS Trauma Informed Training. Sessions were offered in Missoula, Bozeman, and Helena, as well as virtually.

I have struggled with patience for unruly behavior in the classroom, because it feels like we don’t really have many good tools for discipline. But after learning about Trauma-Informed practices I found myself slipping into a mindset of empathy before anger, and I got some great suggestions for preempting outbursts and de-escalation in the classroom if they do happen.
